Please note that although we show every step, we do not go into detail on the basics. Things like what a softbox is, how to connect a flash, or how to set up your camera — you’re expected to already know.

The same applies to retouching. The retoucher explains every step and goes into detail on certain techniques, but many of the basic actions are shown in a faster, time-lapse format. So it’s recommended that you already have at least a basic knowledge of Photoshop.

In the retouching lessons, our professional retoucher will explain in detail how to:

• Use the Pen Tool for the cleanest and most precise cutouts.
• Work with Smart Objects effectively.
• Apply Frequency Separation, one of the most important techniques in product photo retouching.
• Create realistic reflections in Photoshop.
• Draw natural-looking shadows in Photoshop.
• Stitch multiple shots together using Focus Stacking, both in Photoshop and in specialized software.

How many light sources will I need?
In these lessons, we used between 1 and 3 light sources.

Can I use continuous light, or do I need flashes?

You can use both, but in the lessons we demonstrate everything with flashes.
